According to the official website of Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani, this great Shia religious authority meeting with members of the congress of the martyrs of the Holy Shrine defenders from Qom province dubbed "The Neighbors of Fatima, the Defenders of the Sage of Banu Hashim (Zainab)" pointed out that Jihad and martyrdom are means for achieving dignity. "Each Prophet, designated by God, had a book in one hand and a means for jihad in the other," he said.
"According to traditions, Jihad is the means of guidance of the believers to Paradise and means of elimination of the infidels and sending them to Hell." His Eminence noted.
Referring to the importance of martyrdom from the point of view of traditions, His Eminence said, "Imam Sadiq (a) is quoted as saying: Every good deed and act of kindness has higher degrees, but there is no higher degree for the sacrifices made for the sake of God. Martyrdom has been the final wish of infallibles (AS) and religious leaders"
His Eminence said that the infallible Imams (AS) did not die except through martyrdom, he added, "Imam Sajjad (AS), in the first dua of Al-Sahifa al-Sajjadiyya, prayed to Allah to put an end to his luminous life by being killed with the sword of the enemy. Therefore, we come to know that jihad and martyrdom have special significance."
Ayatollah Noori Hamedani stated, "On the resistance front there was a trench; on its one side were the United States, the Zionists, Saudi Arabia and supporters of ISIS, and on its other side were the front of pure Islam and the people of faith and certainty. The Defenders of Haram sought the summit of faith."
His Eminence went saying that the Holy Shrine Defenders revived the greatness of Islam through following Lady Zainab (S). and that it was because of divine providence that after attending Karbala and Medina, Hazrat Zeinab (S) went to Damascus so that her holy shrine might be the source of the publication and expansion of Islamic awakening today.
Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani emphasized the need for explaining the principles of jihad and martyrdom to people. "The endeavor and sacrifices made by the martyrs who gave their lives defending the Holy Shrine of Lady Zainab indicates the victory of blood over sword; because, these great martyrs infused honor and dignity to Islam with their blood." He stressed.
