Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani speaking to seminary students from the Indian administered Kashmir said that the problem of Kashmir is because of British and colonial powers' conspiracy. He highlighted the need for resistance of Kashmiri people saying they would overcome the problem and regain their dignity through resistance only.
He said that Ashura is an event with important lessons for humanity. "We must learn lessons of dignity and resistance from this event. Muslims must maintain their dignity," His Eminence stressed.
He further added, "'Never to humiliation' is the way of Imam Hussein (AS), the Chief of Martyrs. Insofar as we do not adopt his way of life and his normative conduct, we will not succeed. We learn from our religious teachings that life with humiliation is not but disgrace and that man should fight for truth and justice."
Referring to conspiracies hatched by the British government and arrogant powers in India and Kashmir, he said that in the past India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were part of one region but it was divided into three countries and Kashmir was left as a disputed region between India and Pakistan. "The imperial powers wanted the Kashmir issue to be a cause of permanent conflict and dispute in that region."
He further said, "With this conspiracy, the enemy tried to instigate neighboring countries to have a dispute among them and to be weak. It is the duty of Muslims to stand up against the enemy decisively and to foil their plots."
Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamedani further underscored the need for supporting the oppressed and the deprived. "The goal of the Islamic Revolution (of Iran) has been to save weakened and downtrodden people from the atrocities of the arrogant powers, and that Iran is the supporter of the oppressed," he said.
"We support the oppressed people of the world; the people of Kashmir must resist and follow the example of the Ahlulbayt (AS) in their lives. Today, all should be present on the ground to support the oppressed, and the people of Kashmir should not accept disgrace and humiliation," His Eminence noted.
Ayatollah Noori Hamedani concluded, "God, the Exalted, has bestowed dignity upon Muslims and they should struggle and combat. Everyone should learn lessons of dignity and resistance. Surely, with the motto "never to humiliation", and through resistance, the people of Kashmir will triumph and regain dignity and power.
